Stained Glass Windows

The first stained glass window on the Main Street side of the church was given by Jean Jordan in memory of her husband, William E. Jordan, better known to those who knew him as "Bill."    Bill and Jean were charter members of St. Luke, and Bill held many positions during his tenure at the church.    Bill died in January of 1977 after a long illness.
The window bears the words "Peace" "Love" and "Joy".   These were taken from the benediction that Ken Stewart used to say..."May the peace of God that passes all understanding, the Love of God that never lets you go, and the Joy of God that no man may take from you, may all of these be yours, today and all your days, forevermore."

The set of three windows depicting Easter were given by Maryanne Olson and her sister, Susan Isbister, in memory of their parents.   The Palm Sunday window with the palms and the silver coins is in memory of their father, Roy Collins Slack, who passed away in 1947 at the age of 46.
The second window with the three crosses is for Good Friday, and is in memory of their step-father, Felix D. Gillham.
The Easter window with the stone rolled away from the tomb and the dove flying upwards to heaven is in memory of their mother, Harriet Slack Gillham.

The "Hope" window with the rain drops and the rainbow was given by Pearl and Frank Pieroni in memory of their daughter, Denise DuPree, who passed away following an automobile accident.  It shows that in spite of the rain that falls into our lives, there is a rainbow to follow, giving us hope.

The window depicting the Lord's Prayer was given by Betsy Ross in memory of her husband, George, who passed away August 21, 1989. The window as installed in January, 1990, and a memorial service to dedicate the window was held on the last Sunday in January, 1990.
George was a Scotsman, and the cross shown in the window is the Scottish cross.
Betsy said that when she came to church and sat where she could always see the window, she felt very close to George.

The window showing the manger scene and the birth of Christ was given by Vicki and Bob Whipple in memory of Virginia Edith (Hillier) Sharp, Vicki's mother, who died September 9, 1982.    The window was installed in March of 1990 and dedicated in June of 1990.
Virginia was known as the "Christmas Lady".  She put her heart and soul and all of her love into making every Christmas special for everyone that she knew.
