Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising committee is chartered by the session to augment annual pledge giving to support ad hoc projects or financial concerns, not addressed in the annual operating budget. In 2004, St. Luke increased funds raised to an all time high by raising nearly $18,000.

This year, significant emphasis will be placed on supporting the needs of Church renovation projects, which have recently been announced. As is always the case, those organizations wishing to fund activities that are not a part of the budget process are welcome to develop ideas. Self-funding projects are underway for Mission and Youth.

At the risk of offending those we would omit, we want to thank everyone in the St. Luke family who works, supports or contributes to our programs.

Our year started in February with a Ladies’ Afternoon Tea, developed by a group of St. Luke women who wished to raise money for Mission projects, including our refugee family. This event raised nearly $2000.

Phase II of the engraved brick program, was recently completed with approximately 40 bricks added to our sidewalk. This program raised $3500 in 2004 and, $10,000 total funds overall in this program. Thank you to everyone who purchased bricks. This is a lovely commemoration of family, friends and loved ones.

By far, the most successful fundraiser of the last several years has been the Heart to Heart series. This year, Heart to Heart II was a terrific reprisal of the first H2H and a complete success. Heart to Heart is a fun evening of food, drinks and 3 different auction formats. All had a great time. This event was the culmination of much hard work from a number of longtime fundraising committee volunteers. The evening grossed over $13,000, thanks to the amazing generosity of so many committed St. Luke members and friends, who donated or bid on items ranging from a trip to Mexico, soup for a year, the coveted St. Luke Parking Spot, wine tastings, boat rides and many other fun and useful items.

The Fundraising Committee is always looking for ideas and energetic volunteers. If you have an idea for a fundraiser, please let us know. Most fundraising programs require a minimal time commitment and are lots of fun. Please contact Scott Mitchell if you are interested in participating or have a good fundraising idea.
