About Us
For those seeking God's blessing and comfort and love, all are welcome. Our church is an open church. We consider diversity to be God's gift and blessing. At St. Luke, you will find a lot of children and families, worship that is informal and celebrative and a shared common life in Christ.
St. Luke Presbyterian Church is home to a diverse, friendly and caring congregation of 222 members. We have been part of the Downers Grove community since 1962 and belong to a group of 11,000 churches known as the Presbyterian Church (USA), a denomination with a membership of more than 2.6 million. Named after a physician and located next to a hospital and a fire station, St. Luke Presbyterian Church is reminded daily of its call to help heal a broken world. With the descending dove as our symbol, we follow the Holy Spirit’s leading as we seek to worship God, nurture our church family and reach out to the community and beyond.
Our Mission
Our mission is to be an inclusive family of God in the midst of a world in need. We strive to provide love and acceptance, forgiveness and empowerment. As we worship together, we challenge each other to work and to live in the spirit of Christ in our community and in the world.
For the glory of God, we worship joyfully, nurture all and encourage in mission by reaching out to the community and the world. We encourage spiritual growth by involving the entire church family in education, fellowship and lay leadership to help fulfill the needs of the congregation and beyond.
