Walk in Ministry

Working with local churches, and area support agencies, St. Luke is one of the founding fathers of the Walk in Ministry. This monetary agency helps those needing immediate assistance by providing small grants to clients to help with utility bills, small car repairs, overnight housing, and any variety of needs that might come through the doors of First Congregational Church in Downers Grove. No one ever walks away hungry.

The program is open each morning of the week, with trained staff to assess and determine the individual needs of that client, and be able to authorize assistance for that need.

Still in its fledgling beginnings, the Walk in Ministry has helped numerous clients to make it through another day on the streets, or another month without the utilities being turned off.

Grants have been allocated to the Walk in Ministry by both the Mission Committee and the Deacon Board. We hope this ministry will continue to grow and serve the needy of DuPage County.
