Warming Center
The Warming Center is St. Luke's own answer to helping the homeless in the DuPage area. St. Luke is the only shelter open during the day on weekends. Our Center helps meet the needs of the homeless by being open on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is especially appreciated during the cold and snowy season in Chicago.
This program was originated by our own Elder Judy
Dawson, and her tireless work gained her recognition as Woman of the Year in
Downers Grove in 1999.
Working with Judy are faithful helpers such as Linda & Cal Christy,
Bill McCandless, Frank Prasil and many, many more.
Various members and groups will operate the Center on a Saturday from 1-6 p.m. and volunteers are always welcome to bring food, visit with guests, hare videos or play games.
The Warming Center operates on Saturdays from October through April and is an affiliate of P.A.D.S. Besides numerous grants and gifts acquired from outside sources, the Deacons and Session provide annual grants to aid in the operation of this program.
