St. Luke is energetically led by the Rev. Lesley Weir, who joined St. Luke as its pastor in January 2012. Lesley holds a Master of Divinity degree from McCormick Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University. Her call to the ministry came later in life, so Lesley views it as God-driven. She endeavors to foster a loving compassion and an excitement that we’re all in this together. She believes we need to be a family and have an openness to really get to know one another. She inspires us to be authentic and speak the truth in love.
Lesley has said there was no doubt in her heart that the Spirit brought us together to journey the next chapter in the life of St Luke. We did not choose each other, she says, but the Spirit chose us; to be filled with joy, to be appointed to work together for the Kingdom, to produce good fruits in Christ’s name through St. Luke. “I have said these things to you so that my joy will be in you and your joy will be complete. You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you could go and produce fruit and so that your fruit could last.” (John 15:11,16)
Lesley is very happily married to Scott Swan. Their blended family includes five children, aged 19-32, and three grandchildren.
